I work in Montréal, QC.
I realized in 2011 that I had spent my entire adult life painting and drawing quietly in my studio, rarely showing my work to anyone.
I decided to branch out and took a beginner pottery class in January, 2012 at the Kamloops Arts & Crafts Club where we lived for one year. From there we moved to Montréal and I've been working on my own, in a corner of my basement, taking pottery workshops to improve my skills.
In 2014 I became a member of the Baie-d'Urfé Potters Guild of Montréal. Currently, I am the Vice President of the Guild.
I love the intense focus required to make even the simplest of forms in clay. Throwing a pot is a very humbling experience.
I'm not sure if this is true but I find spending so much focused time on form allows me a certain freedom to explore the space on the pot. This is a freedom I rarely felt when painting on canvas.
Many of my vessels appear in my comics or my comics appear on my pots. I think of the two as one body of work.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my site. It's a work in progress so please come back again.
